Prayer for today
Praying through Lent

God be in my head, and in my understanding;
God be in my eyes, and in my looking;
God be in my mouth, and in my speaking;
God be in my heart, and in my thinking;
God be at my end, and at my departing.
from the Sarum Primer,
a 16th century collection of prayers

“They feat upon the abundance of your house; you give them drink from the river of your delights.” (Psalm 36: 8)

As you prepare to eat a meal today, look at the food in front of you and consider all that went into its preparation — the soil and rain and sun that allowed it to grow, the farm workers, the preparation processes and the people who sell food.

Prayer: Bless, O Lord, all people whose labour puts food on our tables.
